What Is The Best Compost Tumbler To Use?
Most gardeners have now heard of the rotating compost bin or compost tumbler. Without prior experience though it can be difficult to know which one is the best to use. Here we will take a look at the best composter to use and look at both pricing and ease of use.
Having looked at a number of different models there is one that stands out above all others in terms of price and ease of use. This is the achla model. It is the best selling model and for good reason. The price is fantastic but so is the speed at which it makes compost.
You can get good quality compost in a matter of weeks. The design helps with this. Being black it absorbs heat and heats up the contents. This makes the organic matter turn in to compost at an unbelievable rate. Not only this but the fact that it is a horizontal model gives it a number of advantages over other models.
Vertical models can be difficult to rotate once they have become partially full. Horizontal models do not have this problem and the Achla is one of the best. A simple turning of a handle every few days really chops up the contents and speeds up the whole process quite dramatically. By chopping all the organic matter up really small the rate at which the composting occurs is truly amazing.
If you have not yet got a compost tumbler then you really should. They are the absolute best way to make compost.

Change your Fountain Water
It is recommended by manufacturers that you clean and change the water of your fountain every four to six months. This will give you the chance to check the pump and see if it has accumulated waste over time.
There are several ways to remove your fountain water. It would depend on the type and size of your fountain and the resources available to you. We remind that the water could be odorous and may contain algae, so it is advisable that you pour it down the toilet rather than the sink to avoid germs and bacteria contaminating your hand cleaning area. It is assumed that your fountain does not have a drain plug for draining purposes.
The best way to remove the water is to disassemble first the fountain then throw away the water. Please refer to the instruction guide in putting back your fountain.
A trouble-free way to get rid of water from a large fountain is to use an extra pump or using the existing pump in disposing of the water from the basin. Attach a long tube to the extra pump and lower it in the basin to pump out the water. Refilling your fountain can easily be done by using a garden hose.
Another way of removing water is using the method in removing water from a fish tank. This is called siphoning, and it requires a long plastic tube, its size depending on the size of your fountain. Insert one end of the plastic tube to the fountain, and use the other end as a big straw to suck out the water using your mouth. As the water approaches your mouth, then lead your end of the tube to a bucket or any other container. If the container is lower than your fountain then gravity will continue to suck out the water. Be reminded that the tube that you will use must be clean and avoid drinking water from the fountain because it would contain algae and other bacteria that can be detrimental to your health.
After cleaning your fountain thoroughly, it is advised to add a water treatment to keep your fountain water looking clean and smelling good.
