Container gardening is probably one of the most creative and artistic forms of gardening.
It can be done anywhere that adequate light can be provided. Even if you live in a high-rise apartment building and have just a balcony for a yard, you can garden in containers. You don’t even have to have that, you can garden in your living room, or a spare room using natural light from a window, or a lighting setup with light bulbs designed for growing plants.

You may have a very small yard and don’t want to give up the space for a dedicated in-ground garden. Container gardening lets you be flexible and have your plants anywhere in your yard or on your patio without digging up your yard. Containers can be moved around so if you find a plant isn’t doing well in one location, you can move it to another.

Container gardening supplies can create aesthetic appeal as well as having fresh fruit and vegetables. You can be creative in the containers you choose and how they are grouped. Just make sure the containers provide good drainage so plants don’t drown. You aren’t limited to containers that sit on the floor or ground. Many plants do well in hanging containers, such as some varieties of strawberries and tomatoes. This not only adds to the decorativeness of your garden but also maximizes your available space.

If you want a more utilitarian container garden, you can recycle containers that would otherwise be thrown in the trash. This is going green with your garden and making the best use of containers left after the original contents are used.
