Tent Caterpillars in Your Trees
There are many things that can cause damage to your plants and trees. If you notice that the trees in your garden are defoliated then you might check whether there is a population of tent caterpillars living in your trees. Tent caterpillars are a type of moth and there are twenty six species of tent caterpillar have been found. Most of the species of tent caterpillars are harmless but the rest can defoliate trees. The homeowners often become frustrated in facing these ones since their plants and trees are devastated.
You can recognize tent caterpillars easily in the trees since their skin are colorful and they build silk tents around the branches of the trees. If you see that there are many silk trees in your trees then your trees certainly are occupied by tent caterpillars. They are often times considered as pests since they can cause damage and defoliation of the plants and trees. Therefore, the homeowners are trying to stop their population growth so that they would not cause damage to the trees anymore.
The homeowners are worried of the huge growth of population of tent caterpillars but the truth is many of tent caterpillars have died before they are fully grown. Therefore, you do not need to worry too much about it.
